Perched atop the city of Edinburgh, this thousand-year-old fortress has witnessed countless wars, executions, and acts of torture. It is considered one of the most haunted castles in Europe, with sightings of executed prisoners, fallen soldiers, and royal courtiers.

Particularly famous is the ghost of a headless boy drummer, who is said to appear accompanied by the sound of his drum. Sudden temperature drops, malfunctioning electronics, and disembodied voices and footsteps are frequently reported. The Château de Brissac, located in France’s Loire Valley, has been owned by the same noble family since the 16th century. For over 400 years, the ghost known as “La Dame Verte” (The Green Lady) has been sighted here, often described as wearing a green dress with a terrifying face bearing holes where eyes and nose should be. Even the castle owners acknowledge her presence.
